Tell Me More is an imaginative package, offering a variety of exercises to the language learner, some of which incorporate Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). The main menu takes the form of a recording studio (Figure 1):

From the main menu the learner can:

• Select a lesson
• Watch a video presentation (see Figure 2)
• Take part in interactive dialogues (see below)
• Try a range of different exercises and exercise types (see Figure 3)
• Do pronunciation exercises (incorporating ASR): see Figure 4 and Figure 5
• Access a glossary (see Figure 6) and grammar notes (see Figure 7)
• Seek general help

In the interactive dialogues the computer provides a stimulus to the student, and then attempts to match the student's response with a range of acceptable answers, thus building a up a continuous dialogue. Voice prints and graphs are displayed in combination with playback of the student's voice to help the student match the native speaker model.

Intensive pronunciation practice is also possible, whereby the student can repeat a selected word of phrase as often as he/she wishes, using the graphic representation of his/her voice to get closer to the native speaker's version (see Figure 5).

Videos deal with different subjects (e.g. London, Paris, renting a villa, animals, sports, etc.) and are followed by multiple-choice comprehension exercises. Grammar notes are accessible to the student at all times. Each rule is illustrated by cartoons and clear explanations. A glossary is provided, giving the student access to the translation of each text and each word encountered during the lesson. Exercises include: The Right Word, Picture/Word Association, Word Order, Dictation, Fill-in-the-blanks, Hangman, Crossword Puzzle.

Tell me More Pro allows the teacher to adapt the software to the level and needs of the student. The teacher can determine the activities to which the student has access, and the order in which they should be performed. Parts of the program itself can be modified to suit the student's learning needs: for example, the acceptance level of pronunciation, display of texts and translations. The teacher can also consult progress reports for every student for each session spent - either in the form of statistics or in greater detail. The teacher can also check the student's spoken work. The contents of each lesson may be printed out.

We have just one copy each of the French, Spanish and Dutch versions of Tell Me More (Version 4.0) remaining. We are no longer retailing this series.
