Electronic Learning Credits (eLC) funding has been allocated to state schools in England since 2002, but it has been underspent by many schools by a large margin each year.
The eLC funding scheme ends on 31 August 2008. Make sure you spend your allocation for 2007-2008 - and don't leave it until the last minute!
Question: What is eLC money?
Answer: eLC stands for Electronic Learning Credits, which is money set
aside by the government for your school to spend on multimedia resources. The
money is distributed from central government via LEAs to individual schools,
which decide locally how to spend it. Every school has an appointed eLC budget
holder (e.g. your head, head of department, bursar or ICT coordinator). All
teachers are invited to recommend resources for purchase.
Question: How much money
is available?
Answer: Each eligible school is entitled to £1000 as a starting point
plus £3.42 for each pupil, so a school with around 600 pupils will receive
abot £3000. These figures apply to the current budget year, ending 31
August 2008.
Question: Which schools are
eligible for eLC money?
Answer: All maintained Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools in England,
up to and including Key Stage 4.
Question: Has my school got
eLC money?
Answer: It should have. Check with your head, head of department, bursar,
ICT coordinator or LEA.
Question: Are there any time
limits on this eLC money?
Answer: The final eLC funding period will expire on 31st August 2008.
Question: So how do I spend
this eLC money?
Answer: Firstly, locate
the software packages that you wish to buy. You can do this by carrying out
a search at the Curriculum Online website: http://www.curriculumonline.gov.uk
Alternatively - and you will probably
find this much quicker - have a look at our online list catalogue of CD-ROMs
at http://www.camsoftpartners.co.uk/catalog.htm
If there is an eLC symbol
next to the name of the package then you can use eLC funding to make your purchase.
Alternatively you can consult our catalogue at http://www.camsoftpartners.co.uk/catalog.htm,
which contains the eLC reference numbers of approved products. If there is no
eLC symbol or reference number next to the name of the package then it may still
be eligible - just ask us for confirmation - as the process of getting eLC products
registered is slow and time-consuming and we have not got round to registering
all the products that we retail.
Ask your eLC budget holder for approval of your expenditure and send us your order, letting us know that you are using eLC money to make your purchase.
We look forward to hearing from you! Email us via our Contact Form to check that the goods you require are in stock. We will then email you to confirm the final price, including all taxes, postage and insurance.
