Designed for all of those who love French language and culture from the age of 11 to adult, La Chaise Berçante uses an Oscar-winning animation to teach and promote the French language and French-Canadian culture. The film CRAC! tells the story of the evolution of Quebec society through the life of a rocking chair. The rocking chair has a particular significance in the history of Quebec and, in this story, illustrates the rapidly changing world in which French Canadians live. In addition to the outstanding 15-minute animation from Société Radio-Canada, La Chaise Berçante contains hours of interaction at three degrees of difficulty, including:

• Video clips from a televised interview with Frédéric Back, the film’s creator
• Canadian art (Krieghoff, Gagnon, Thomson, Borduas, Molinari, Riopelle and others)
• Songs (including one by Quebec singer/songwriter Claude Dubois
• Traditional French-Canadian folk dances
• Computer-based activities
• A multimedia lexicon of over 1,000 words
• La chasse-galerie, a legend narrated in two distinct styles
